Virginia,
I really enjoy reading nonfiction that inspires me。 The First Rule of Mastery is a great read designed to do exactly that。 I appreciate how the minute I started to read, the beautiful design made it become an inspiring guide to FOPO and how to overcome it。
Ryan,
I’ve listened to Dr Mike’s podcast for years。 When I had the chance to read an advance copy of the book, I was pumped。 He gives a very practical guide to succeeding at the highest level while challenging our assumptions about how much others are thinking about us, as well as what we do with those thoughts。I loved how he wrapped up each chapter with a practical way to apply each micro-concept。The further you progress, the more your mind works against you。 This is a must read for anyone trying to I’ve listened to Dr Mike’s podcast for years。 When I had the chance to read an advance copy of the book, I was pumped。 He gives a very practical guide to succeeding at the highest level while challenging our assumptions about how much others are thinking about us, as well as what we do with those thoughts。I loved how he wrapped up each chapter with a practical way to apply each micro-concept。The further you progress, the more your mind works against you。 This is a must read for anyone trying to do great things in life。 。。。more
Amanda Cotton,
This book is a must read。 Absolutely phenomenal。 Michael Gervais has struck the perfect balance between sharing psychological fact and evidence backed by studies and its readability and holding on to the readers interest。 Even better, it doesn’t drag on forever。 Gervais says what he needs to say and moves on。 This is a quick read that packs a whole lot of punch。 I chose this book because I was aware that I really do struggle with the tendency to care too much about what people think, and to be h This book is a must read。 Absolutely phenomenal。 Michael Gervais has struck the perfect balance between sharing psychological fact and evidence backed by studies and its readability and holding on to the readers interest。 Even better, it doesn’t drag on forever。 Gervais says what he needs to say and moves on。 This is a quick read that packs a whole lot of punch。 I chose this book because I was aware that I really do struggle with the tendency to care too much about what people think, and to be honest, I expected a dry read full of science that I’d have to plow through bit by bit。 I’ve never been so happy to report that I was mistaken。 This is one of the most readable and engaging and helpful books on the topic。 Additionally, for the overachievers among us, each chapter ends with simple and approachable activities designed to help bring awareness to the areas where you might have some tendencies to care too much and then what to do about it。 This is an excellent read。 Once I started reading, I really couldn’t put it down。 Highly recommend!!I’d like to thank Harvard Business Review Press and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review。 All thoughts and opinions are my own。 。。。more
